OPC
With Nematron's OPC server, you can easily integrate plant foor data with the rest of the enterprise. It provides OpenControl data access to third-party software products with an industry-standard interface, so you can test and apply endless possibilities in your operations.
I/O Configuration
OpenControl supports the most popular I/O devices on the market, including legacy PLC and I/O networks. You can develop and test control programs independent of real I/O.
Internet Aware
ActiveX controls make OpenControl applications Internet-aware in any environment. Internet and intranet users can access control data through Web pages.
Application Programmer Interface
The OpenControl API makes it easy to use Visual Basic or Visual C++ programming for customer-tailored applications.
Dynamic Data Exchange
Because OpenControl communicates with DDE- aware applications, you can exchange data anywhere, display real-time data in an Excel spreadsheet, and send machine instructions and procedures to applications on the plant floor.
Microsoft Windows NT/2000 Architecture
The Microsoft Windows NT/2000 platform, the operating system of choice for the future of PC-based computing, has become the de-facto standard for desktop and industrial solutions. OpenControl offers the best fit for industrial machine control in a Windows NT/2000-based enterprise-wide control system. As PCs and open networks replace PLCs and proprietary networks, devices get smarter, and the Windows NT/2000 architecture integrates the enterprise, OpenControl is now the standard for PC-based control.
Real-time Windows NT/2000 with HyperKernel
Only one machine-control product brings this determinism to the Windows NT/2000 operating system: HyperKernel-activated OpenControl. Built into OpenControl, the multithreaded and multitasking HyperKernel real-time subsystem operates with standard Windows NT/2000 to deliver 32-bit hard real-time performance. Unlike competitive products, the HyperKernel subsystem does not require any modifications to the Windows NT/2000 HAL source code, so it keeps all Windows NT/2000 files intact and runs with standard Windows NT/2000 platforms.
The HyperKernel subsystem loads into its own memory space as a self-contained execution environment. HyperKernel threads run in the HyperKernel environment and are not subject to Windows NT/2000 scheduling delays. This architecture guarantees the deterministic performance of OpenControl, and your control system maintains preemptive access to the full range of Windows NT/2000 user applications. OpenControl even survives Windows NT/2000 STOP conditions (blue screen crash and hard drive failures). You can configure OpenControl to automatically shut down your control process in an orderly fashion if a Windows NT/2000 crash occurs.
