Software Driver Terms

Nematron Software products have an extensive list of drivers, so we probably have the support you need. Because we can not know what you intend to use on any particular project, it is the customer's (or system integrator's) responsibility to find out whether the required device interface is supported by the Nematron product. Nematron will help you determine whether the devices are supported as described below.

Our Position
Hardware vendors improve and extend their products constantly, and some of these improvements require considerable development investment (in drivers), which we may not be willing to make. The amount of potential work is very large, and though we have an on-going driver development program, we can not keep up. At times our priorities may be the same as yours, and we decide to fund the development. In other situations, you may have to fund part or all the the development effort.

When Your Device Is Not Supported
All driver work beyond that supported by standard product requires a written quotation from Nematron or a written commitment for delivering new drivers or features. This is the only way to be sure that there is no charge to you and that the work will be scheduled.

How Can You Know?
This is not easy for Nematron or you. The main reason is that vendor model numbers, protocols, firmware versions, interfaces, etc. change frequently, often in subtle ways. Almost nothing is constant, but hardware vendors do a pretty good job in general of maintaining compatibility. It is the odd case that can wreck projects.

When in doubt about whether a device is supported by standard product, please contact software technical support. We will give you the best information available and will often perform tests for you at no cost if you can provide us the hardware. When you can not get the hardware to us, we can usually send product to you for testing and then followup by phone.

Please Test Early
We strongly recommend that you verify device communications early in your project to avoid delays when issues are discovered later.
